Architectural design is a huge responsibility…almost a sacred one…as it presents the unique opportunity ‘to create on virgin land’… on a piece of land that has been lying vacant since the birth of humankind as known to us… Even if it is a redevelopment or a façade enhancement project, it still presents one with the chance of adding value to the entire precinct… influencing the environment for a sizeable time period…it is not just the people inhabiting the built space but also the people ‘looking at it’… ‘being with it’…’feeling its presence’… during the lifetime of the building spanning several decades.

We have been fortunate to dabble in some bungalow projects, a few elevation design schemes in the urban milieu.. as well as a few outright commercial & office buildings…in the pipeline.

  • Client : Shriram Automall India Ltd.
  • Project : ‘Automall Offices’
  • Location : Chennai, Pune and various places pan India

This start-up enterprise of a pedigreed company, entailed refurbishment of used vehicles (all types from cars, tempos, trucks, tractors, heavy duty trailers etc.) & selling them through an open bidding process. We gave comprehensive design consultancy ( architecture, interiors, structural & services design) for these projects in which existing premises (sheds) were remodelled substantially for beneficial use. …a lot of research went in to this project prior to finalising upon the design parameters & thereon the design to come up with the ‘basic acceptable template design’ to be adopted for the various spaces pan India… Each facility has a well planned detailed layout with a parking lot, refurbishment shed, a ‘bidding hall’& a staff office space besides the services & utility areas as part of architectural & interior fit out work. Our suggestion of using the bright house colours against a predominantly white / neutral background to reinforce the corporate identity for the façade design as well as the interiors was well received by the clients. It made the spaces look light & airy besides reinforcing the company identity.

  • Client : Mr. Raman Arumugham
  • Project : Bungalow
  • Location : Devanhalli – Bengaluru

This is a ground & two floors structure with minimal open spaces to be left all around, sitting ‘choc a block’ within a bungalow precinct. We did the entire design consultancy for this project with emphasis on façade design as an important component of its architecture, besides the interiors & landscape design. The façade was given an atypical, unique but contemporary look & feel, complete with the metal pergola shading the 2nd floor landscaped terrace. A light & quaint contrasting colour palette was employed to lend the bungalow an ‘ever fresh & young’ look as was desired by the client.

  • Client : Builders
  • Project : Residential Apartments
  • Location :Azad Nagar & D.N. Nagar
    Andheri(W)- Mumbai

These two projects were done for different builders & are located in middle class residential precincts at Andheri west. Both the facades follow a contemporary language with differing colour schemes coherent with their respective elevations. Both achieve the client's intent of having a strong visual presence amongst the buildings alongside.

  • Client : Shop Owners Group
  • Project : Commercial Centre
  • Location :Kurla (E)- Mumbai

This was a unique project. Our clients wanted a vibrant but simple architectural scheme to house their existing shops anew & have some area to be leased out for commercial or office use. We came up with two distinctly different elevation scheme proposals for a similar planar arrangement, both having a very vibrant, upmarket and contemporary look and treatment ethic.

  • Client : Real Enterprises
  • Project : Office Building
  • Location : Dahisar (E)- Mumbai

This is one of our earlier projects when office buildings as a type were finding their foothold in the extended suburbs of Mumbai. As consulting Architects we were entrusted with the task of designing a contemporary façade within a conservative budget using as less glass as feasible. We used the ‘double skin logic’ allowing the necessary play to achieve desirable aesthetics whilst shielding the inner office spaces from the vagaries of climate thus reducing the heat loads too. The relative geometry of projected masses, sizeable windows for each office inside out, varied opening types & the use of a coherent earthy colour scheme impart the building a stately contemporary look that was well received by our clients & the end users alike.

  • Client : Classic Developers
  • Project : Residential Building
  • Location : Santacruz (E)- Mumbai

This was a residential apartment project with 2BHK flats that required our involvement as façade designers. We kept the windows to a maximum as per the inside room function & took advantage of the planar undulations, to add ‘ focal relief features’ throughout the façade, all coloured & treated in a distinctly different colour ‘shape & colour ethic’. This coupled with an imaginative colour treatment all along makes this building unique visually in that residential precinct.

  • Client : Police Precinct
  • Project : Offices & Quarters
  • Location : Bhoiwada (E)- Mumbai

This is an ambitious project involving our design consultancy services for the remodelling of the ‘Police Precinct’ located within an old residential area of erstwhile Mumbai. The 1st phase deals with the façade & surrounding enhancement to be done in alignment with the building upgradation being taken up under the auspices of CPWD- Mumbai. The finalised façade treatment draws inspiration from the “Colonial Tudor British style” giving all facades ‘ a wrap around’ on the building mass adding wood like appeal … by using plaster grooves, dry projected cladding…shingles for the roof…the windows & doors with their ‘pane design’ falling in line with this traditional look. The surroundings would also be spruced up by use of cobbled stone work path & road ways, retaining of the wonderful trees & adding on to the green element by appointing lawns & shrubs creating an ‘equally beautiful backdrop’ for the lovely edifice. The final result is a precinct with an understated elegance that befits the stature of these most respected cadre entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining the law & order in this sprawling multifaceted metropolis.

  • Client : Dethroja Family.
  • Project : Villa.
  • Location : Morbi - Gujarat.

This was a Competition project of Design of a sprawling residence for the Dethroja family at Morbi Gujarat. The family comprised of the patriarch & his two sons with their own nuclear families. The clients wanted an edifice that could be perceived as a ‘landmark architecture’ in the area following all vastu norms. We suggested two options. The preferred option has a ‘dynamic form’ for the singular villa housing everything, located judiciously on site allowing for an approach road through ‘a made up coniferous jungle’ as also a sizeable family party area on ground with party lawns & swimming pool towards the rear side..The public & semi public areas inclusive of parking, common living, lounges, central kitchen & common entertainment zones are factored in the 1st two levels that formed the podium adequately , On which rested the three independent 3 level residences for the family . The central services cores are located discreetly at both ends,,,the neatly planned circulation cores ensure a sense of privacy but without loosing out the need for connectivity as and when necessary. The ‘double skin’ factored in the architectural design allows for a 2metre space between the full glass internal wall & the façade wall used for lawns..sitouts..passages with part double heights…pergolas..stairs etc. This acts as a buffer zone shading & protecting the internal living spaces from the extreme climatic conditions also allows for the façade to be punctured with interestingly shaped largish openings covered with a perforated metal skin that allows visibility & ventilation inside out. The other alternative proposed 3 independent villas separated by largish distances that housed recreational areas of common use.

  • Client : Mr. & Mrs. Kulkarni.
  • Project : Villa.
  • Location : Safalay - Maharashtra.

This bungalow is a weekend retreat at a quaint hamlet within an hours drive on the outskirts of Mumbai. It is located in a gated bungalow precinct in a picturesque setting at the foothills with a river close by. The architectural design proposes a bilateral symmetry with well appointed rooms, a dynamic living space, party lawn at ground & 1st floor, a covered terrace at the 2nd floor thus giving adequate avenues to just ‘ be there, relax & look out’ on to the verdant environs. The aesthetic is kept simple..subtle..& form oriented allowing the landscape ‘to take centre stage’, with largish windows everywhere to soak in to the internal green & the natural scape beyond…
